The conjoined twins who live a happily shared life!
Doctors said the girls won’t survive more than a few days and look at these bright faces with beautiful smile, the conjoined sisters managed 27 years of life with happiness all around them!
The world probably hasn’t forgotten the mind blowing story of the conjoined twins who happened to be connected to each other in the most unimaginable way possible, beat the logic of the science and made a life that is appreciative for all of us.
Learning to tolerate one another, living into the same body, working as two different individuals their life is a unique story!
Abigail and Brittany Hensel have lived about 27 years as conjoined twins with two spines, two oesophagi, three kidneys, four lungs, one ribcage, partially shared nervous systems, two hearts, one liver, two stomachs, two gallbladders and one shared circulatory system.
Both the girls are a lot different in their temperament and thinking but have been so much surrounded with love and care that they have accepted the way they live.
After having been in the limelight for their unique built in mainstream media in 1996, the Oprah Winfrey Show, cover of life magazine etc the family led a very simple life and busied themselves in their own personal affairs. It is when the girls turned 16 that they finally said a yes to a TLC documentary.
On their 16th birthday, Abigail and Brittany passed their driving test too which was a major turning point as to their coordination, thinking and that they never let the chances of penalty come in.
They have had several operations to protect them too. They underwent a surgery to remove an underdeveloped arm from their chest, another one to save from the expanding of their chest cavity and give them proper future breathings.
Even though both are different in their way of living, looks and thinking, they have a wonderful coordination.
Despite their different personalities i.e. Abigail wanting to be in charge of everything she does while Brittany being a crazy mind, the twins take care of each other, fill in the gaps well and connect to each other’s heart in the most beautiful manner.
The twins wish to teach mathematics at a primary school while the concern remains of getting a single pay because in the end they are one. While both argue on the fact that they bring more on the table with different perceptions, better management and monitoring while teaching they hope to convince the authorities for a rise.
Abigail and Brittany are special conjoined twins because about just 1 set of conjoined twins are born in 40000 twins born in the world. And yet only 1 per cent of those survive to make a life. The rarity of their survival and despite all the odds securing a happy life is what makes these girls truly special. We hope to see more of them creating waves in the way life give them the platform to be themselves!
