In the July of 1995, Maryanne and Tommy got married in a white weeding. They both had met at a local training centre and both had down-syndrome. While they both had already dealt with a fine share of rough and harsh people, it was their love for each other that brought the connection. Tommy after dating Maryanne for 18 months knew that she was the one and went on and proposed her with a toy ring. He first asked his mother who approved of the marriage and then proposed to Maryanne. Maryanne’s sisters and family and Tommy’s family all thought that this was a mistake and a stupid marriage. They even question on the mother’s resemblance to get them married. But as the wishes were, Maryanne was prepared for her white marriage as she wanted.
