Supermarket removes foreign stock from shelves to raise awareness on racism!

When the customers recently walked into the supermarket named Edeka in Hamburg they were surprised to see that most of the selves in the super market were empty. One of the most popular super markets of Hamburg which is known to cater all of the needs of the people here had been lying mostly empty as if the restocking had been missed or the store is about to close. The small handful of products which remained on the stock has been the ones which were exclusively of Germany.

This powerful move by Edeka the supermarket in Hamburg was done to raise a message to the people on the increasing racism and ethnic diversity. There were shelves which were placed with little hoardings with captions like “So empty is the shelf without foreigners” and “this shelf is quite boring without variety”. There were discussions on the captions and as a results one could not find the Spanish tomatoes, the Greek olives and even the Italian sausages weren’t there for the people. This definitely raised awareness that we all live the life we enjoy because of the unity that we all share. The racism and diversity disparity shall only leave us with little of what we produce.

The Edeka had stored just the products made in Germany. They exclaimed that Edeka stood for diversity. There have been a lot of products that are prepared in assortment locally but it is the varieties from around the world which makes us enjoy the choices we have and helps Edeka assign unique value to each client. This powerful move by Edeka has been big news in Germany with people coming out with their own judgments as part of the awareness. There have been both positive and negative waves and we would like to know your take on the awareness method chosen by Edeka!
